Uruguayan Christmas Warmth coming and going

The holidays on this side of the world are quite different from the images we see in Christmas movies: here, they are typically celebrated outdoors, as it is summer, and the rituals are different from what we share in the collective imagination.

If there’s one very characteristic aspect of each culture, it’s the food, a major protagonist on every Christmas Eve and New Year’s table. That’s why we wanted to bring a piece of our country to someone spending the holidays abroad.

We launched a contest where people could nominate someone special who was far from home during the holidays to receive a warm hug and a treat for the palate. The fortunate person would receive a Christmas kit with local products such as dulce de leche, yerba mate, medio y medio, yo-yo alfajores, and a collection that any average Uruguayan would wish to receive whether near or far from the country.
