New Autonomous Baggage Drop System

At Carrasco International Airport, we have introduced a new automated baggage drop system, known as Self Bag Drop, designed to streamline the check-in process and enhance the passenger experience.

This technology enables passengers to independently check in and tag their luggage using self-service kiosks, speeding up their journey through the airport and reducing waiting times.

The service is now operational with 12 Self Bag Drop units located in the check-in area. In this initial phase, it is available to passengers traveling with LATAM and GOL, with a gradual rollout to additional airlines planned in the coming months.

To use the system, passengers must register at a self check-in kiosk using their boarding pass or QR code. If they have not completed check-in beforehand, they can do so at the same kiosk and print their boarding pass. Once scanned, the system validates the flight and baggage information, allowing passengers to print and attach the luggage tag.

Passengers then proceed to the designated Self Bag Drop counters, where they scan their boarding pass again, place their luggage on the conveyor belt, and scan the baggage tag. The system confirms the drop-off, enabling them to continue directly to the boarding area.

This addition complements other recent initiatives aimed at enhancing the passenger experience, such as the Express Pass virtual queue system, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and operational efficiency.
