Before Traveling

Booking Your Flight

The first step is to book your flight, and it is best to do so in advance. You can do it through different channels:
  • A travel agency
  • The airline’s website or office
  • Generic flight booking websites
To book a flight, you will need:
  • Destination: You may have a direct flight or a connecting one with one or more stops.
  • Travel dates
  • Personal details and documents of the travelers
  • Payment method: When booking, the ticket is usually paid for, so make sure you have your payment details ready.
At this stage, you can also request any special assistance you may need (e.g., a wheelchair).

Packing Your Luggage

You’ve booked your flight, and the departure date is approaching! Here are some key things to consider when packing: There are two types of luggage you can travel with:
  • Carry-on luggage: This is the luggage you can take with you on the plane. Each airline has restrictions regarding size and weight, so check with your airline before traveling.
  • Checked luggage: This is stored in the aircraft’s cargo hold and must be handed over at check-in. Airlines have size and weight restrictions, so make sure to check the guidelines in advance.

Necessary Documentation

The required documents vary for adults and minors, and some countries may require additional documentation. Check with your airline in advance.

For travelers over 18 years old:

  • National ID card (for Mercosur countries)
  • Passport

For travelers under 18 years old:

  • Passport
  • Travel authorization

Other documents that some countries may require:

  • Visa
  • ESTA (for U.S. travel)
  • Vaccination certificates

Checking in Online

Many airlines allow online check-in 24 to 48 hours before departure. This lets you register for the flight before arriving at the airport. Airlines typically send an email with a link to complete the process. Once you check in, you will receive or be able to download a boarding pass, which contains your flight details. You will need to present this at the airport. Your boarding pass will include a QR code that you must scan at control points. We recommend saving it on your phone or printing it. If you can’t check in online, you can do it at the airport.

At the Airport

The day has arrived, and you are ready to travel. It’s time to go to the airport! When taking a flight, go to the Departures area. We recommend arriving 3 hours before your flight to complete all procedures calmly. Apart from checking the departure time, always confirm with the airline for any changes. You can find updated flight information on our website: www.aeropuertodecarrasco.com.uy, by contacting Customer Service at (+598) 2604 0272, or calling (+598) 2604 0329 ext. 1637. If you arrive by car, you can park in our parking lot. Rates are available on our website. If someone is dropping you off, they have a 10-minute tolerance to leave without paying.

Checking in at the Airport

To check in, you need:
  • Your travel document (passport or ID)
  • Checked luggage (if applicable)
  • Additional required documents (visa, travel permits, vaccination certificates, etc.)
If you haven’t checked in online, go to your airline’s check-in counter. You can find the correct counter on the airport’s screens or ask at the Information Desk. Once it’s your turn, present your documents and checked luggage. Make sure your luggage complies with the airline’s size and weight limits. If it exceeds the allowed weight, you may need to pay an excess baggage fee or remove items.

Boarding

At the boarding area, you can wait comfortably for your flight. Check the screens to find your boarding gate and boarding time. Airlines generally call passengers to board 40 minutes to 1 hour before departure. This area offers free Wi-Fi and charging stations for your devices. You will also find a duty-free shop, retail stores, and dining options.
