At Aeropuertos Uruguay, with the support of Pinturas Inca, we restored the “Uruguay to the World” mural located in front of Carrasco International Airport, a work originally created in 2019 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the terminal.
The mural was brought back to life by Colectivo Licuado. It pays tribute to Uruguayan culture by portraying the faces of key figures in the country’s history and welcomes the thousands of tourists who arrive in Uruguay every day.
Alfredo Zitarrosa, China Zorrilla, Carlos Páez Vilaró, José Pedro Varela, Gonzalo “Gonchi” Rodríguez, Clemente Estable, Juana de Ibarbourou, and Rosa Luna were the personalities chosen a decade ago by Uruguayans through a public survey.
The restoration preserved the mural’s original essence, enhanced the vibrancy of its colors, and introduced new shades that bring subtle changes and small surprise elements, helping to further highlight and enrich the space.
As the country’s main gateway, we strive to bring Uruguay’s identity closer to the thousands of passengers who visit us each day. The renewal of this mural is a way of enhancing public space through art, sharing what represents us, and reaffirming our commitment to tourism and the cultural enrichment of Uruguay.
Once again, initiatives like this reflect our commitment to making the airport a space that fosters cultural development and promotes tourism throughout the country.
