Construction Progresses on the New E-Commerce Terminal

At Aeropuertos Uruguay, we continue to make progress on the construction of the new E-Commerce Terminal at Carrasco International Airport, a strategic project through which we are strengthening the country’s logistics infrastructure and supporting the sustained growth of international online shopping.

This new terminal will feature 5,000 square meters specifically designed to enable all courier companies to carry out their operations under modern, efficient conditions aligned with the current demands of the sector.

We will incorporate advanced technology, automated storage for held shipments, temperature-controlled cold rooms with different ranges, and dedicated spaces tailored to the needs of each courier. In addition, we will significantly increase service points for trucks and vans and provide dedicated operational staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This development responds to a sector that has been growing steadily: in 2023 alone, 446,000 international packages entered the country, compared to 208,000 recorded in 2016—representing an approximate increase of 114%.

With this new infrastructure, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting modern, efficient airports prepared to support the transformation of e-commerce in Uruguay.
